I remember a game I was fortunate to see in "The Fabulous Forum" in which the Celtics defeated the hated Lakers. (Sorry about the cheerleading; it's a Boston thing.) It was in the latter days of 1972. Jo Jo White and Dave Cowens put on a show for the LA fans, and Cowens in particular was effective in his mid-range jump shot. This pulled the Lakers height out of the paint, and left White with open lanes to the hoop.
I was out of the US for most of White's time with Boston, but I still remember him. The number 10 deserves its place above the TD Garden court.

New to me: Cleaning the Glass; I've been trying to learn more about basketball sets and plays and have found some good stuff here. I especially like the "SLOW" button on the videos so you don't have to try to see things happen in real-time (though I wish it muted the sound when you hit it).

RIP Jo Jo White.
I'm feeling even older than I was already.
I like watching the old games played on a clean floor with no 3 point line and with skillful jumpers taken from wherever there was space and opportunity. The game was more fluid and open without the line. Players had tighter mechanics and fundamentals.
And groovin' was groovin'.
