"Hey, it's Coach Torre. Just calling to let you know I'm giving you today's game off." What sport's voice would you like to erroneously hear on your voice mail?
I'd like Walt Frazier to call the day after one of my corporate league hoop games. "You were elevating and devestating last night ... mystifying defenders!"

What sport's voice? How about... golf? No, I wonder what ski jumping would have to say. "Hey man, how are things.... ---whooooooosh----"

Oddly enough, I cannot think of a single thing. Unless it was, say, Mia Hamm calling to say thanks for last night's pleasure.

I don't know if his is yet common practice - but the guerilla markerters for the Toronto sports teams these days have been using Bell to try to attract people to the games. Twice I've had recorded messages on my service from Carlos Delgado and Roy Halladay. "Hi. It's Roy Halladay of the Toronto Blue Jays. Just want to let you know that the White Sox will be in town..."

"'It doesn't really bother me. I feel good, but he said he wanted me to take a blow, get ready to run down the stretch,' Giambi said." Take a blow? Is this a typo or am I that out of the sports lingo loop?

"Hi. It's Roy Halladay of the Toronto Blue Jays. Just want to let you know that the White Sox will be in town..." That's either one of the coolest or one of the saddest things I've ever heard. Especially if it wasn't a recording (although I assume it was). Heh.

Last year, I heard Mike Vick on my answering machine thanking everyone for coming out to the GA dome.

I'd like to hear Chick Hearn, if only because that would mean he was still alive and ready to comment on another season.

I'd like Gary Payton's agent Aaron Goodwin to call me thinking that I'm his client. "OK dude, I'm weighing two offers here. The Bucks are talking $12 mil over three-years with a club option, but the Heat say..."
