I watched Bruins vs Maple Leafs last night on the telly. How dare you, Toronto, hire a coach who can turn around a locker room. Mike Babcock has the Leafs playing some pretty good hockey, and they no longer can be taken as an easy 2 points. There are holes to be sure, but the quality of play is solid, there is no "I'll get my points and forget about defense" attitude, and but for Tuukka Rask and a little bit of luck, they could have walked out of TD Garden with a couple of points. Have hope, Leafs fans; it will take time, but there is a start.

Anyone wanting to hop down the manhole into the pit of human anguish and suffering as uniquely expressed by Philadelphians (it is their birthright) has only to visit some of the Eagles fans discussion boards on this gloomy evening.

Some people have a death wish. Chip Kelly seems to have a Division 1 wish. And there are surely lots of AD's interested in helping him fulfill it.

If Kelly had five shoulders, each one would have a whispering monkey perched on it.

Petrino: "You don't have to coach out the whole year"
Spurrier: "Aim to torment the same people you did before"
Saban: "When you get to Bala Cynwyd, keep heading west"
Butch Davis: "Don't stop in Ohio"
Lou Holtz: "Don't sshftopp in Fptmflwh-ptui (Indiana)"

Didn't Chip Kelly leave Oregon under a cloud of suspicion, though? Would a school be inviting an NCAA investigation if they hired him? Or did all of that get cleared up in Oregon?

The Oregon sanctions included an 18-month show-cause order for Kelly, which would have expired last December. So he's technically clear, but would likely indeed invite increased scrutiny. That probably wouldn't be enough for anyone to overlook him, even USC or Miami.
