Fantasy Premier League, Week Two: The Translucent sit atop SportsFilter's Fantasy Premier League after week 1 with a 57-point performance led by Vincent Kompany (14), Philippe Coutinho (10) and captain Wayne Rooney (10). The deadline for picking your roster this week is Friday at 1:45 Eastern because Manchester United is playing Aston Villa on Friday night, a scheduling move that's a sign of things to come in the Premier League. Starting next season, 10 games a season will play on Fridays.
Last season I had an abysmal first half which I parlayed into a very solid second half, but alas, the hole was just too big. I may not have the injuries to replace after week 1 that I did last season, but my scoring output is no more impressive...

Lawn Wrangler, Jeffwa Hogue and Fig Jaj are signed up for the wrong SportsFilter league. I emailed two of them using their addresses here, but I don't know if they're current. If anyone knows them, send them this link to join the right one.

Anyone have a good feel for how player values are calculated week to week?
It's definitely weird and I gave up trying to make money a few years ago. I know there's a way to do it since they actually have a ranking for Most Valuable Team, but the whole deal where you sell the player for less than they are currently valued for because of when you bought them confuses the hell out of me.
As an Everton fan, let me suggest Baines replacement, Luke Garbutt, a completely solid two-way player. Who is also hurt.
Kill me now.

Brilliant management on my part, deciding to switch my captainship from Lukaku (2 goals today) to Pelle (0 goals, 1 yellow card).

I had to replace Leighton Baines (out three months), so I joined 150,000 other people picking up the much cheaper Joseph Gomez from Liverpool. He has a good matchup this week, but the main reason I did it was an expectation his value would go up quickly because of so many pickups.
