As a Jays fan, I perfectly fine with this deal.
It's "win now" (being this year or next), so if you really are in that mode (and signing Martin and trading for Donaldson seem to indicate that), you might as well push all your chips in.
Do I wish they'd used those kids to get a star pitcher? Sure.
But I think the upgrade at SS is huge (offense and defense), so I'm happy.
I also don't think AA is done yet.
In the end, if the Jays don't make the playoffs this year (or next), I definitely won't blame AA for not trying.

With Hawkins coming to the Jays, that means they now have the oldest (Hawkins, 42y 219d) and youngest (Osuna, 20y 60d) players in the majors.
Hawkins MLB debut was 81 days after Osuna was born.

Sad to see Tulo leave Denver but it was starting to seem cruel to keep him here. Glad he didn't go to a New York ball club.

Admin request: Can whoever 'owns' the SpoFi EPL Fantasy League please renew it for this season? TIA

I owned the league last season after the previous owner could not be found. But I can't find our league on premierleague.com to renew it. I'll keep poking around the site.

I think the "or next" part of that is key. The Jays had a limited window for their excellent offense, and not enough pitching. Regular folks like you and me figured that they needed to add pitching before their offensive window ran out. But AA looked at the high-end pitching market and decided that it was easier to extend the window for the offense.
So now they still need pitching, but the increase in offense means they can be more reasonable in acquiring pitching. And they've made themselves more competitive in 2016-17, while punting their aging-shortstop problem down the road.
So basically they don't have to sell the farm and go for broke in 2015. I think it's a smart deal.

If I see that play in a video game, I call fake.
If I see that play in a movie, I say "too Hollywood".
The snag-flip-grab-turn-throw motions are so smooth...

Jays acquire Troy Tulowitzki and LaTroy Hawkins, in exchange for Jose Reyes, Jeff Hoffman, Miguel Castro, and Jesus Tinoco.
Dave Cameron approves.
