Cowboys, Yankees Most Valuable U.S. Sports Teams: Forbes magazine has estimated the worth of the Dallas Cowboys at $3.2 billion, making the NFL team tied for second-most valuable sports franchise on the planet behind the Real Madrid soccer club in Spain at $3.26 billion. The New York Yankees in baseball also are valued at $3.2 billion. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has the most profitable club in sports at $246 million with revenues 31 percent higher than their nearest NFL rival.
How much of Jerry Jones' profitability is due to the residents of Arlington being willing to devote tax revenue to his lavish stadium project rather than to essential municipal investments and infrastructure?
It will be interesting to see if the Washington NFL franchise holds value going forward barring any changes to their naming, branding, etc.
Surprising to see the small market Packers included in the Top 50. Also surprising to see the Titans and Panthers up there.
The value of Ballmer's NBA team is only 400 million shy of what he paid for it.
