Seahawks Bottle Up Panthers, Look Like Favorites to 'Re-Pete': The Seattle Seahawks turned a 14-10 nailbiter at the half into a 31-17 no doubter, defeating the Carolina Panthers and advancing to the NFC Championship Game. Kam Chancellor sealed the win with a 90-yard pick-six touchdown that followed two incredible non-blocks of a field goal as the first half ended. After leaping the line once to disrupt a kick, Chancellor did it again, foiled only by a penalty for running into the kicker. Under coach Pete Carroll, Seattle is the first defending Super Bowl champion in a decade to win a playoff game the next season.

Those two Kam Chancellor block attempts were hilarious. It looked like a glitch you take advantage of in a sports videogame until your opponent makes you stop under threat of quitting the game.

When Chancellor did that the second time, it seems like one of his teammates was grabbing a Panther by his mask and pulling him to the ground, allowing Chancellor to leap over him. Was I just seeing things?

This team is scary as hell if you're an opposing team, and they didn't even have full Lynch beast mode among the fireworks this week. When they're firing on this many cylinders, they are monstrously good.

I'm a long time NE fan living in Seattle, so have seen them play regularly, and I have expected to see those two teams face off in the SB this year for a good month now. But NE and Tom Brady would, as beaverboard sagely opined in the thread next door, have gone full circle and will be facing the same long odds chance of beating Seattle as they did in winning their first Superbowl against the Rams.

But jesus, is Seattle a great freaking team... it is a joy to watch them play.

I was only kind of pissed that the Panthers lost to Seattle last night because, well, Russell.
