Apparently the Celtics are smart for drafting sophomores. Remind me of this come January of the next 3 years or so.

The one World Cup ad I've yet to tire of is Hyundai's Spain pregnancies spot because it suggests a wild sexual orgy resulting from a meaningless win over Australia, perhaps one in which the term "dead rubber" was taken too literally.
That or a lot of Spaniards were sick of tiki taka.

US Soccer says Jozy is ready to go. Still feels like it may be posturing to give the Belgians something to think about.

Luis Suarez apologises for biting Chiellini.
A proper approval too. Not an "I'm sorry if anyone was offended" apology.
" I deeply regret what occurred. I apologise to Giorgio Chiellini and the entire football family."

Lie back and think of Hugh Jackman?

I don't know if that's a proper apology, but it's better.
I quibble with his characterization of the act: "the truth is that my colleague Giorgio Chiellini suffered the physical result of a bite in the collision he suffered with me."
The truth is that you bit him, Luis! That's how people suffer the result of a bite.
The only unorthodox phrasing I would have accepted for full credit is Yoda speak. "That I bit him, the truth is."

"Can't you see the size of these choppers? With one shrug of my shoulders I once bit fifteen bedridden children during a charitable visit to the orphanage I founded, what do you expect? I had my mouth open because I wanted to compliment Mr. Chiellini on his lovely eyelashes and dammit if my teeth didn't make trouble again. I am a victim of genetics! My father was a donkey! Anyway I'm sorry if anybody feels bitten, how about letting me play again?"

It was apparently a requirement before he could move to Barcelona. So I'm not sure it was an apology at all.
EDIT: here's a better link.

"EDIT: here's a better link."
That's the link I posted.
I presume this is going to derail Urguguay's appeal, unless they're going to re-route it to being purely about lowering the length of the ban, (which would also please Barca, of course).
Edit : Annnnnnd... Here's Barca chief Andoni Zubizarreta praising Suarez for being "humble." after his "apology."

Liverpool should get the biggest check they can from Barca by, say, July 15 so they can turn around and buy a couple of replacements. Lailana and Lambert are great additions but neither is taking Suarez's place.

For all the goalscoring, there have been some truly outstanding performances by keepers. Costa Rica, now Algeria, can't blame Rais for the loss in any way.

This World Cup continues to pull away from every recent World Cup in terms of scoring and excitement. With leads being lost in the final minutes, previously unheralded teams making deep runs, and goals coming at an unheard of pace (in the 32 team format), this has been a ton of fun to watch.
