To me, its not about the sexual preference of a skater, but the fact that some present a colorful, flamboyant, or outwardly feminine performance brings out the fear and bigotry.

The article seems to hint that it's a generational thing. When the (older) judges come out, the skaters might be more comfortable.

I don't think the audience gives a shit one way or the other. Mums watched Liberace for years.
