Three safeties in the first quarters of today's early games. I looked up and saw three game scores scroll by as 2-0 and thought I was looking at the wrong sport.

Completing the process of the catch is a baffling rule. Calvin Johnson was once again robbed of a touchdown. What is amusing to me is that the Lions later scored on a ball that broke the plane and then was fumbled. Seems like a glaring inconsistency to me.

Frenchman Alexandre Geniez won a grueling 15th stage of the Spanish Vuelta that ended with a summit finish in his home country Sunday, while Vincenzo Nibali fended off his rivals' attacks to retain the overall lead. Not bad, not bad.

So Troy Polamalu timed the snap count.

It gets less baffling when you realize that subsection (b)(iv) of the rule is "Except when it's Calvin Johnson doing something amazing, in which case fuck that guy."

My favorite Polamalu video is when he times the snap count and jumps over the line of scrimmage to tackle the quarterback.

Troy Polamalu makes watching the game so much fun. It reminds me of my backyard days; anything fucking goes. The thing that really makes me laugh is that he isn't a fan of the game. When he's not playing the game, he has nothing to do with it.

He may be the only reason to watch the Steelers this year. They will be lucky to win 6.

The New York Yankees have had 2 historic "firsts" recorded in their current series against Boston. The Yankees have scored 7 or more runs in 3 consecutive games, and lost all 3. This had never before happened. Another first is that the Yankees had never allowed 9 or more runs in 3 consecutive games. At least this is true for the Yankees. I don't know if the previous NY AL team, the Highlanders, renamed the Yankees in 1912, had allowed the 9 or more. Do not confuse the name Highlanders with the homophonic NY team name (but without the H). That team doesn't play baseball, but still has allowed large scores against, but not in 3 consecutive games.
