9-Seed Wichita State Reaches Final Four: The Wichita State Shockers have become only the fifth team seeded ninth or higher to reach the Final Four, knocking off the Ohio State Buckeyes 70-66. The preceding overachieving underdogs were Penn (9 in 1979), LSU (11 in 1986), George Mason (11 in 2006) and Virginia Commonwealth (11 in 2011). The Shockers had a 20-point lead in the second half and outlasted a furious Buckeyes comeback.

Maybe they're fans of the Big Show.

Even though I didn't fill out a bracket or anything, I enjoy reading the updates at ESPN for their tournament challenge. They don't give a percentage of people taking Wichita State to win the whole thing out of all the brackets submitted, but simple math says it's .03%. No matter how today shakes out, somewhere around 50 people (out of over 8 million) will have the correct final four. Obama is still doing better than every ESPN analyst.

I'm enjoying their run, because I have fond memories of the early 80's, when the Shockers had some impact teams that took care of business. So did UAB, as I recall.
I'm digging Carl Hall and his X-ray specs. He can see through the concrete arena abutments every time his team heads to the locker room.

Show me someone who picked Wichita State in the Final Four in their bracket, and I'll show you someone who either picked their bracket randomly or went to Wichita State.
