As I read the above post on Westmoreland, they were showing his statement concerning retirement. I must say that this is a young man with hois attitude in the right place. He won't play professional baseball, but I will bet he is a success in whatever he decides to do.

Frankly, I consider this rank optimism. Two outcomes in which the world is not brought to an end by the introduction of the designated hitter to the National League? Ridiculous.

Sad news for Red Sox fans, especially those of us from Portsmouth, RI: former Sox prospect Ryan Westmoreland, once Baseball America's #21 prospect in all of baseball, announced his retirement after a series of setbacks resulting from brain surgeries to correct a cavernous malformation in his brain.
