Mark Sanchez (after 61 games)
68 TD, 68 INT, 72.0 Rating, 55.2% completion
Joe Namath (after 61 games)
88 TD, 98 INT, 69.5 Rating, 50.2% completion
Sounds like Sanchez is on his way to a HOF career!

He does essentially guarantee a playoff spot and home field advantage every year .....
for the Patriots.

Next year Sanchez cost ~$8m to keep and $17m to cut. So we get to enjoy at least one more season.

Given how inept the Jets were this season, I was a little astonished they were still mathematically in the playoff chase going into Week 15. That's probably a testament to the general weakness of the AFC when you discount three of the four division leaders.
Jets management has no credibility and I'd be shocked if Tannenbaum, Ryan, and at least half the coaching staff weren't removed from the staff at season's end.

Jets and Bills may find themselves in a race to replace quite shortly. Quicker trigger might get the better coach. Bills need to move first - hard to pitch the allure of snow globe football against the charms of the Jersey superfund lowlands.

NerfballPro is spot on--the management team escaping this debacle will make a highly entertaining movie a few years on if they do--but I think Beaverboard is disingenuous about the relative allure since Manhattan is a lot closer to East Rutherford than Buffalo.

I guess the fact that 19 vials of steroids (and 64 needles and 47 syringes) were found in Andy Reid's son's locker might become a bigger story if the media were interested in going after the NFL. The fact that he was a volunteer strength and conditioning coach for the Eagles probably isn't important.

Remember the NHL?
Here is one blogger's choice for the top 10 (11?) hockey photos for 2012.

NHL lockout doing alarming' damage to brand.
I say bravo, to both the League and the PA, bravo indeed for your displays of spinal fortitude in sticking to so steadfastly to your demands. Surely nothing could go wrong by cancelling yet another full season.

"But there was simply no way we weren't acknowledging adult film star Taylor Stevens' ample contribution to Stanley Cup Playoff lore. ... DeBoer managed to remain focused during her appearances behind the bench, despite it looking like he was about to be assaulted by two bald dwarves."
And now there's coffee all over my screen.

Mark Sanchez is a horrible QB, and the fact he's still on the field, even after a few years of experience under his belt, is proof what a terrible, clueless organization the Jets are.
