Leland really should have pulled Valverde the moment he walked Texiera; he was wild the whole inning. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

While I cheered the Ichiro! home run, this was my reaction later in the inning:

I assume they are already working on building a Raul Ibanez addition to Monument Park.

The greatest sport twitter account ever sums it up nicely:

Raul Ibanez is the St Louis Cardinals funneled into one man.

By the way, not a sellout at Yankee Stadium tonight.

Wow. Valverde has been awful to the point where it should be inexcusable to use him in a key situation. He should have never been allowed to pitch to Ibanez, that is Leyland's fault. It will be interesting to see what the Tigers do about the bullpen, especially since Benoit was far from lights out either.
I was really impressed that the Tigers managed to stick it out. Hopefully the momentum from the victory will be put to good use in the series.
And what a terrible way for the postseason to end for Jeter. That sucks.

Nothing about Escalades or Lelli's. That'll go over well.
