Red Sox Fire Bobby Valentine: The Boston Red Sox fired Bobby Valentine Thursday after he went 69-93 in his only year as skipper. The Sox were 7-22 in September and October to wrap up their worst season since 1965, including losses in their last eight games.

Maybe they really are thinking about selling the team. Apparently the "turning point" happened before the season even started.

Casey Stengel could have managed this team and nothing would have changed. That might have been a turning point in dooming Valentine, but this team wasn't going anywhere.

Valentine's one year at the helm seems a lot longer to me. This decision seems overdue. Maybe one normal managing season is equal to seven Valentine seasons.

Imagine if you were a Red Sox fan.

I hear one of the leading candidates to replace him is an unknown named 'Robby Ballentine'. Here's a picture.

Valentine's tenure with the Rangers seemed interminable and less understandable with each passing year. At one point, Dan Shaughnessy referred to him as Manager for Life of the franchise.

Oh, if only. I'd be willing to suffer another (partial) season of Valentine to get rid of Lucky.
