That video of the Portland Timbers crowd going wild a few weeks ago showed how far the MLS has come - they're almost level with European Under Eights leagues!

UNC Asheville is in a dogfight with Syracuse and the refs are doing everything they can to hand Syracuse the game. I don't understand how the refs can be this terrible at this level.

They were really bad. I do believe, however, that the lane violation was the right call.
It did provide this gem of a Barkley quote: "I don't know if it's a rule, but if it is, it's a stupid one"

I don't understand how the refs can be this terrible at this level.
This was one of Charlie Pierce's predictions in the article linked to yesterday.
Personally, I would have been thrilled to see the Orange be the first 1 seed to get knocked out by a 16 seed.

This is a pretty fine post from Henry Abbott about teams (specifically Houston and Portland, in light of today's Thabeet for Camby trade) being stuck in NBA purgatory and trying to get out of it in different ways.
(The Trailblazers also fired Nate McMillan and released Greg Oden today).
