One-Team Icon Comic: A comic drawn for the newspaper (by Derrick Goold) as a statement about Pujols leaving the Cardinals. He also challenges the readers to identify all the players.

Hints:
All seated players are living, retired, and in the hall of fame (except one).
All wall pictures are deceased and in the hall of fame.

And yet, no Al Kaline. Living, in the Hall, and played for only one team...

And yet, no Al Kaline.

They have a representative from every team except the Tigers (Kaline or Gehringer), the Pirates (Clemente or Traynor or Stargell or Mazeroski), the Giants (Hubbell or Jackson or Ott or Terry or Ross), and the White Sox (Appling or Faber or Lyons).

Every other team that has at least one HOF-single-team player is represented in the picture.

Just missing the chance to be in the comic:

Ryne Sandberg (6 PA with Phillies) and Yogi Berra (9 PA with the Mets).

Jeter presumably is the one non-retired/non-HOF player. I think I have the others as well, but will refrain from posting to let others guess.

And seriously, St. Louis media (and portions of the fanbase), get over it. With the trashing of Colby Rasmus in recent days and all of the hand-wringing over Pujols, it just seems petty. Come on, the Cardinals won the World Series last year and look to field a very competitive team this year! Be happy.

I'm trying to be happy, but it's really hard.

Holden, I think most St. Louis fans are happy and are looking forward to the season. Most everyone I speak with thinks the Cards did the right thing by not tying up that much money/time in the Pujols contract. Of course, you can't instantly replace Albert but most here feel that in a few years (maybe sooner) that the Angels will be wishing they had held back a little.

Also, one article on Colby Rasmus hardly constitutes trashing by the entire St. Louis area. In fact, I hardly hear Colby's name mentioned at all any more. We are passed it and don't really think about him. To be honest, I hope he does well in Toronto. I also hope Albert does well in Anaheim (excuse me, LA), unless he faces the Cards in the Series, of course.

67nickel -- I am a Cardinals fan myself, and am fine with the Cardinals having let Pujols walk at that level of committed money (and most other Cardinals fans I have spoken to feel the same way). I was not intending to make any overarching proclamations about the St. Louis media or fanbase as a whole, just thought the Jeff Gordon piece ("Some people don't have what it takes to be a Cardinal") and the Goold cartoon both coming out in the past week just seem to be petty. The Gordon piece moreso than the Goold cartoon, but seems the Goold cartoon would have been more timely back when Pujols actually signed with the Halos. My point is simply that Spring Training has begun, the Cardinals have made some interesting roster moves, Wainwright is coming back, and the focus should be on the year ahead rather than taking digs at the departed.

Robin Yount!

Yeah, I enjoyed seeing Yount there.

And looks like the Philly hot corner gravedigger himself sitting across the table.

Well, it doesn't really look like him, but that's who I think it is.

Do I have to? I really don't want to at all. I still have grudges against quite a few former St. Louis sports personalities that I intend on keeping. And the Pujols thing is just the most recent so I'm not prepared at all to let it go.

Btw, who was that arbitrator that ruled Scott Stevens was just compensation for Brendan Shanahan? I'm still pissed about that. Oh and Mike Keenan too, that SOB, running #99 out-of-town.

I'll be fine. But I'm not gonna get over it for a while. Then again, if the worst thing I do is enjoy a cartoon with a little snicker, then buzz off, it doesn't seem like it would bother you much.

Go Cards! Hey Pujols, Your Team Sucks!
