In the final installment of our "On This Day in SpoFi History Series" celebrating the 10th Birthday of SportsFilter:
On this day in SpoFi History . . . 10 years ago, SpoFites were talking about the firing of the guy who traded for Jason Varitek in the first place (the Red Sox were, after all, in the midst of an 84-year run of futility) and an already-over-the-hill John Madden taking his talents to the MNF broadcast booth; some jackass came mighty close to editorializing in a front page post about the great Mario Lemieux shelving it after the Olympics (with a Michael Jordan sighting as well); and some nerds talked about brackets and shit (and were then shoved in a locker in the Locker RoomTM, left hanging on the coat hooks by their underwear waistbands).
And someone calling him/herself "tipanimal12" (apparently tipanimal 1-11 were taken) joined the site, looked around, registered, made a comment in a bowling thread, and left for good. tipanimal12, we hardly knew ye! But to commemorate your contributions and the 10th Anniversary of SportsFilter, I intend to design and have made t-shirts featuring a sexy cartoon rabbit waitress, with the tagline "Tip Animal" underneath.
