SportsFilter: The Monday Huddle:

A place to discuss the sports stories that aren't making news, share links that aren't quite front-page material, and diagram plays on your hand. Remember to count to five Mississippi before commenting in anger.

The NHL trade deadline is upon us.

Word is that the price for Rick Nash is too high, so the number one topic on those trade shows goes off the board. There is a lot of time (7 hours) to fill...

On this day in SpoFi history . . . 10 years ago, no hockey trade deadline talk, but (in a busy day for the new site) SpoFites were discussing whether Theo Fleury was unfairly picked on (incidentally, the link to the ESPN article is broken, so it just shows a search on ESPN for NHL -- with the third result being ESPN's info page on concussions), God helping athletes win (Tim Tebow was in junior high school home school level 10 at the time), and the first SpoFi fantasy sports league.

Plus meta (Meta?) discussion on whether it was okay to simply cross-post MetaFilter posts on SportsFilter (rcade quote: "Any time we spend on cross-site etiquette is going to be wasted in a year when 80 percent of the users aren't MetaFilter regulars"), a thread on whether bowling could/should be an Olympic sport (if curling is an Olympic sport...), and discussion of where Michael Schumacher sits in the pantheon of F1 greats.

Winding these down after tomorrow (trying to find posts for Feb. 29, 2002 is for some reason proving very difficult) -- Happy 10th Birthday, SportsFilter!

These look backs are cool. I occasionally share MetaFilter sports posts here when they're interesting, and haven't caught any grief for it.

The Daytona 500 has now been moved to 7 p.m.

It's still weird to me when the Mefi posts are cut & paste jobs instead of links to the post at Metafilter or something. Feels spammy.

They all link to MetaFilter too, via the via link at the end.

Yeah, but it's still weird, like a content farm.
