The Ohio State football program will learn its fate this afternoon.

The actor Gerard Butler had to be rescued surfing at Maverick's shooting a film.

Many yrs ago I was driving up the coastal highway and lucked into being at mavericks when the big waves were rolling in and stopped to watch a bit. Nothing they put on film is equal to actually being there at just the right time. No big crowds like you see today just a hand full of surfers and some massive waves. Dangerous place for anyone down on the rocks and I'm glad Gerard is ok. I was not about to climb down to the waters edge even in (or because of) my altered state at the time.

Jersey foul, indeed.

Not exactly a called home run, but not bad.

Nice, owlhouse. The Cricinfo piece summarising Warne's conversation with the Fox Sports commentators is also worth a read. I'm a sceptic about the new Big Bash franchise format (plus it's more bloody T20) but it seems to have got the punters through the gates.

Funnily enough, etagloh, the crowds are lower than expected. The ACB was in the media on Monday noting this and explaining that the "true value" of the Big Bash would be found when the TV rights were being negotiated.

My nightmare vision of the future is professional sport being played in massive, empty stadiums, with the only witnesses being hundreds of silent TV cameras, broadcasting to half awake zombies slumped in front of their plasma screens.

What? Oh.
