What happens when you've got a very stacked squad competing late into the Summer for a championship? You get a Confederation's Cup sans Ronaldo and Zidane. Kind of an interesting follow-up to this loosely related thread about profit sharing between the clubs and FIFA. What happens when the big stars are sitting out of the Int'l tourneys to play club ball instead? The economist in me says that FIFA's profits will sink.

Yeah, that navel fluff can be seriously enthralling. :-P I blame the Spaniards for running their league at the wrong time. But it don't really matter because it's a meaningless tournament anyway and hopefully the absence of some of the big names will give us a chance to get a look at some young up-and-coming stars.

How come there are no Brazilian starters playing in the EPL if Brazil has the best national side on the planet and the Premiership is the best-paying league? Okay, one guy (Ronaldinho) may come to ManU this Summer but seems like a reasonable question. But I'm not surprised that some top stars are missing what is, after all, a secondary tournament particularly for the European and South American teams.

There are a few Brazilians playing in the Premiership, of particular note are Juninho (Middlesborough), Edu and Gilberto Silva (both Arsenal).

I'm hoping bill was just referring to the squad going to this tourney, which, according to the linked article, has nobody in the EPL.

Sorry, I was just referring to the squad listed in the linked Brazilian article as Ufez says. I try and follow EPL as intensely as possible but tiny brain and lots of facts to stuff in. Still, how come none of the Three Rs are in EPL?
