"To see the young kid walking with the cock, you know, was astonishing. ... That child could be doing so much more with his life, instead of walking around with a cock in his hand, waiting to fight." -- Michael Vick

In a move that's not all that surprising, Ty Conklin comes back to Detroit...

I was that child, except I wasn't waiting for a fight.
...and it wasn't my own cock. It belonged to the guy who lived next door who, during WW2, raised a few chickens to supplement the meat ration.

On a more serious note, Myra Kraft, wife of Patriots owner Robert Kraft, has died at 68-years-old after a long battle with cancer. All the while the negotiations for a new CBA were going on, Mr. Kraft was dealing with this. I recall that at one point Kraft came under some heat for missing a few negotiating sessions "for personal reasons". We now know those reasons, and can only think the better of Robert Kraft. May Myra Kraft's soul rest in peace, and may Robert Kraft continue to find the strength to go on.

You gotta hand it to Victor Martinez.
That was really an awesome moment - not a flashy moment, but a great one none the less.

I love the look on his face after he tags in and as he's looking to the ump for the call.

Great moments in sporting punditry:
If Major League Soccer could hand-pick a team to face Manchester United in a high-profile friendly, it couldn't do much better than the Seattle Sounders... The Sounders should offer a considerably tougher test for Manchester United [than New England]Final score: 0-7, three goals in four minutes, and a hat-trick for Rooney, who came on as a sub for the second half. (To be fair to the Sounders, they put on a decent show in the first half, and the second half substitutions to give their stiffs a run out were what made it one-sided.)

In Seattle's defense, I was at that New England game and it could have been 20-0. New England had no answers for them and got lucky on the one set piece directly in front of the penalty box. It was like watching a AA team take on the best of the major leagues.
