NFL Labor Talks Stumble on Free Agency, Rookie Wage Scale: Amid speculation that a deal in the NFL labor dispute is imminent, several sources told AP that the biggest obstacles to a deal are a rookie wage scale and free agency for veterans. So, NFL is trying to turn this into rookies vs. veterans? Agree to revenue split and salary cap, it's just who gets the money among the players.

NFL owners have long sought to restrict the huge bonuses and salaries paid to rookies.
