Inmate Regrets Bird-Brained Prison Sentence: Seven years ago, Eric Torpy asked an Oklahoma judge to add three years to his 30-year prison sentence as a tribute to Larry Bird. Convicted of armed robbery and shooting a gun with intent to kill, Torpy now regrets his request for extra time. "Recently I've wisened up," he said. "That three is a big deal, you know? Three years matters." He's eligible for parole in 2033.

I agree with him that the District Attorney and Judge should not have gone along with his stupid tribute.

I'm with cjets -- a different player number is in order.

But I'm heading in the other direction. As Tinman said, this guy is truly dumb -- so much so that he should have declared himself a Ron Artest fan for the sake of society at large.

Artest wore #96 with the Rockets.
