Guillen Suspended for Twittering Balls and Strikes: Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen has been suspended for two games because he complained on Twitter after being ejected from Wednesday's game for arguing balls and strikes. "This one going to cost me a lot money this is patetic," Guillen tweeted. "Today a tough guy show up a yankee stadium." The league forbids players and team personnel from posting to social media from 30 minutes before game time to its conclusion.

It was over for him. The guy is a nut.

These procedural social media rules drive me nuts; it's an extension of the overall muzzle on anyone related to the game expressing an opinion or having a controversial personality.

The only difference between hooking Guillen up to a mic on ESPN during the game and him twittering is MLB's ability to censor what he has to say and make some money off of the "interactive" MLB watching experience.

Or, maybe concern over the idea of the tweets switching to some sort of coded language intended for latter day Pete Rose and Art Schlichter types.

I don't object to teams or leagues having a game-in-progress SM clampdown. Look at how much distraction a guy like TO or Ochocinco can cause with just a Sharpie.

The thing that frosts me are the money-driven draconian apparel rules: "Tony Romo, when you come off the field, if you don't put on the approved cap provided by our official teamwear partner, we'll fine your ass substantially".
