The Jets, for some reason, seem to want Randy Moss: Randy Moss, once upon a time, was the most unstoppable receiver in the NFL.

Still, there's apparently a team out there that would love to have Randy wearing its uniform: It's the "no head case is too wacky for us" New York Jets.

As the article points out, three of the Jets WRs are free agents. This could be a negotiating ploy with them as much as anything.

That being said, even if this is legitimate, Sexy Rexy has earned the benefit of the doubt from me.

With the corollary mention of a possible return of Moss to the Pats, I truly hope the Pats, for some reason, do not seem to want Randy Moss back.

Unless they can keep getting third rounders for him in trades.

The Pats are probably the only team that can keep Moss in check enough to get any production out of him. Any other team will just be wasting their time.

As for the Jets, they need to start developing some young talent around Sanchez and stop bringing in old retreads they think will take them over the top, such as Tomlinson. The guy is only taking time away from younger players, and he will never be a factor against the better playoff teams again. Moss's bad karma and habit of only playing when the mood strikes him isn't worth the hassle either, and is definitely not what a young team needs.

I'm pretty sure Shonn Greene was supposed to be the feature back this year and Tomlinson was supposed to get 8-10 carries and a shot at a ring, but Greene wasn't the better back. If anything, this suggests that a team reliant on youngsters ought to keep older players around in case they're not ready for 20 carries a night.

Tomlinson outplayed Greene starting in week 1, when Greene carried for 18 yards and fumbled twice on six touches when they lost to Baltimore. A veteran isn't necessarily a handcuff; he's an insurance policy if the youngster isn't ready to take the reigns yet, or is inconsistent as Greene was.
