File under "sign of the times.": An amazing 73 players have declared for early entry in the NBA Draft, including 31 international players. Of course there are only 58 picks in the two rounds, who's telling all these kids that they are going to be drafted?

Can't they sign as free agents afterwards?

Sure, but NBA free agents never get played. Heck, most second-rounders don't even make rosters. Most of them are just angling for a free trip to Chicago, see where they stand, then pull their names out. We're just going to see more and more of that in the future.

Of course many of them are merely testing the draft waters, and the smart ones will withdraw their names before the June 19th deadline when they see that they won't be drafted, but still, wow.
