Fightbox!: A BBC game-site that will turn into a TV show, "FightBox is a totally unique sport. Anyone can take part. Warriors will pit their wits against the Sentients and each other in the FightBox Arena, competing for the title of FightBox Champion and for the greatest prize of all: Freedom. Players can download the free FightKit software from this site and design and build their own Warrior. They can then train their Warriors and enter them in Qualification to try and win a place on the televised FightBox Tournament." Who will play? AmIGeekOrNot? Do we need a new "Robot/virtual sports" category?

I mean, it's one thing to play fantasy league, and watch your gladiators' actions turn into points. It's another thing to build, train and send your gladiator into battle. It's American Gladiator, American Idol, and Pokemon rolled into one!

Sorry about double-posting. I'm making up for not posting on Tuesday. Heh. btw, this post came via the excellent boingboing.net.

OK...I'm registered...now I guess I have to download the kit and train my fighter? I'm on there as vito90 and my fighter's name is Guile. Should I kick your ass first?

Looks like the Fightkit has not been released yet, and they don't support Windows NT. No support make Guile mad!

I actually don't think I'll be doing any building. I'm not that geeky. ;-) But I'd love to watch the battles, perhaps put a little wager on your monster. I'm thinking Ladbrokes or whatever they're called will be taking bets on it pretty soon.

Ok, I'm in (though as vito said, the software's not available). Let's hope it's simpler than corewars.
