Anthony Scores 50 in Nuggets Loss: Despite a career-high-tying 50-point effort from forward Carmelo Anthony, the Denver Nuggets lost 108-103 to the Houston Rockets Monday night. Anthony scored nine of his points in the final minute in a loss that left him feeling existential. "When you score 50 points and lose you start thinking why?" he said. "Why the 50?"

With zero assists I think the question is pretty disingenuous.

It's called a team game. Not a solo-player game.

I've watched a ton of Anthony's games here in Denver. The team calls on him to score. They isolate him in the pinch post a lot and just let him go to work. If the double comes then they call on him to pass and Anthony is a willing passer when that happens. I didn't see the game but I'm guessing they just didn't double that much. Besides, he scored 50 points on only 24 shots. The rest of the team scored 58 points on 53 shots.

50 pts on 24 shots with 11 rebounds? He did more to win that game than the rest of the Nuggets combined. When you're scoring that efficiently (and the rest are shooting well south of 50%) the team would be insane not to feed him the ball every possession. Assists aren't an issue on this one.
