Reds, Votto Agree to 3 Year, $38 Million Deal: Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto has signed a three-year, $38 million contract with the team. The Cincinnati Enquirer thinks the deal means a quick-as-possible free agent payday for the National League MVP. "[T]he contract simply buys out Votto's arbitration years," writes John Fay. "He can take his money and run to free agency after the 2013 season."
That's a lot of loonies! Glad to see them keep him around for a bit longer, but unless his production drops off tremendously, I can't see him in a Reds uniform in 2014.
