With the Rams on the upswing this year, if the Pete Carroll roster rodeo pans out in Seattle and Harbaugh is able to make things happen at the pro level in SF, suddenly the NFC West is a lot more intriguing.
I'm sorry, did you just use the current state of the NFC West--a division that will be represented in the playoffs with a 7-9 champion--to reason that the NFC West is getting better?

The Nets offered the Pistons Troy Murphy and Johan Petro for Richard Hamilton and the Pistons 1st Round Pick, mistakenly thinking that the former Bad Boy running the Pistons is Isaiah Thomas and not Joe Dumars.

Hey, good on the Seahawks for winning yesterday, but my statement was about the NFC West, not Seattle.

Things are looking up in the NFC West because there's nowhere to go but up. Saturday's unbelievable win for Seattle doesn't change the fact that its division completed the worst divisional performance in NFL history.

Although I said intriguing not better, I should have used better grammar in saying that the NFC West may become more intriguing (and yes, more competitive) in the future based on what is happening there as of this week.
The Rams went from 1-15 in 2009 to 7-9 in 2010.
Pete Carroll has made a large ongoing number of roster moves since arriving in Seattle which may ultimately result in an improved team (I used the word if). The roster is still very much a fluid work in progress. All this is disregarding yesterday's game result. Nonetheless, at the end of the regular season, they were two games better than in 2009.
What Harbaugh will be able to do in SF is unknown. Which is why his ability to coach at the pro level is included in my speculative musing. But as of this week, he, not Singletary is part of the current state of the Niners. I consider his hiring to be an upgrade. I expect SF to be better in 2011.
Just having Harbaugh and Carroll in the same division is ample cause for expecting (or hoping for) more intrigue.

I have never given a hoot for the Manning brothers matchups that the NFL makes such a big deal out of.
But a Harbaugh brothers matchup is appealing, even with the Niners having a ways to go to get to the Ravens' level.

Carroll must love that Harbaugh has landed in his division. Many cozy post-game moments to look forward to.
