Masterstroke all part of Sox master plan

How dare anyone even suggest a team other than the Yankees prey on the weak! The fact Boston moves in this manner will be blamed on them (the Yankees) too.

Eh, the Red Sox have been lumped in with the Yankees since 2004. Time to adjust your Yankee blinders.

I bet the Marlins really regret dumping Beckett and Lowell. Hanley Ramirez just hasn't panned out.

Jacksonville's new ABA team played its first game last night at home against San Francisco and won 182-124. Fun fact: San Francisco was only able to bring five players and Jacksonville ran the full-court press and fast break all game long.

Well, the only reason the Red Sox did this is because of the insane payroll the Yankees have. All of the second-tier payroll teams need to be this ruthless to have any chance against the Evil Empire and their unlimited budget. Heck, look how much the Yankees spent on a shortstop with a .710 OPS!

*poke*

Only five players? Couldn't they pull a couple guys out of the stands on FA contracts or something? How does a professional league allow that to happen?

Oops, I forgot to post The Hoser's picks, so here's a link for anyone interested in checking them out.

I've never understood why the ABA and the other minor leagues in basketball don't get more love. I may go to a Jacksonville game soon and check them out.

By some fans of some other teams, yes. I think that most Red Sox fans are a bit more reluctant to look in the mirror and lump themselves in.

It's pretty tough to give love to a league that has teams not fielding full rosters.

Miami's Dan Carpenter just kicked a franchise-record 60 yard field goal.

I'm not following the Red Sox hate here - any team that has the money should spend it to get a better team. If you were in the same division as the Yankees, had the ability to spend, but didn't, you wouldn't have loyal fans for very long. If the complaint should be with anything, it should be with the lack of proper revenue sharing in MLB. The payroll tax is a joke and does nothing to limit the Yankees. Want to restore some ability for small teams to keep big players, change that. It's done wonders for the NFL.

Jayson Werth plans to build a Scrooge McDuck-esque money vault to roll around in after signing with the Nationals for $126million over 7 years.

Yikes.

Wow. I can't even imagine how much Carl Crawford is going to get paid now that Werth has signed that monstrosity of a deal.

The media treats the Red Sox as the Yankees little brother. From reading other teams forums fans don't see much difference either.

Most of the Red Sox fans I know aren't in denial. They realize the advantages of having a huge payroll, though many would attribute that to keeping up with the Yankees, however wrong or right that may be.

Yes, there are Red Sox fans that still believe they're a small market team with nothing in common with the Yankees. They're no more clueless than those Yankee fans that believe they're winning because of mystique and aura.
