UConn Beats Baylor, Extends Win Streak to 80: The UConn Huskies defeated the No. 2-ranked Baylor Bears 65-64 Tuesday night, extending their winning streak to 80 games. Six-foot-eight center Britney Griner scored 19 points and had nine blocks for the Bears, who saw an 8-point lead disappear in the final 6:51. The Huskies are now eight wins shy of tying the UCLA men's all-time NCAA Division I basketball record for consecutive wins.

Thanks for posting this, rcade. It would've flown under my radar, but I managed to catch the final 4 or so minutes. Heck of a game. It kind of looked like Maya Moore's final shot was an airball though. Any word on that? That wouldve caused a shot-clock violation and a stoppage of play, no?

It was a shot-clock violation. I think the refs wanted UConn to continue their streak as well. That was a great game. Still, I was soooo disappointed. I wanted Baylor to win this.

I'd like to give ESPN a rare compliment. They did a good job with this game. They hyped it up and devoted the first (prime) minutes on SportsCenter to talking about it.

Caught the second half as well. Great game.

I caught the start and the last five minutes. I thought the Bears had the better team, but they lost their composure a bit in clutch time. UConn didn't have an answer for Griner as the game began.

They'll meet again. Wish they could have met a bit later in the season when they were both in mid-season form, but that's the way it goes with non-league games. Two excellent squads.

Bad timeout by the Baylor coach as well. If she had saved that one, they could have gotten a decent shot off.
