Graphic: Why Eric LeGrand is Paralyzed: "The two players exert 833 pounds of force on each other -- more than the resulting force of a 150-pound world class sprinter running at top speed into a brick wall." The Star-Ledger has produced an infographic analyzing the tackle that left Rutgers player Eric LeGrand paralyzed. More coverage from the paper.
The "perfect storm" title of the graphic is a bit misleading: it doesn't take anything like that amount of force to cause a c-spine injury when you go head first. Unfortunately.
