I don't want to say Jon Lester was getting squeezed yesterday, but . . .

Not sure if I have seen this on here already, but Minor League Baseball.com is doing a "Moniker Madness" contest to find the best name among the many minor league baseball players. They are down to the final four where Mark Hamburger is facing Rowdy Hardy and Bubbie Buzzachero is matching up with Seth Schwindenhammer.

I am hoping that everyone here will vote for Lowell Spinners "Hammer" as he attempts to follow in the esteemed past winners Dusty Napoleon (2009), Will Startup (2008) and Houston Summers (2007). Seth has followed in the footsteps of the Butler Bulldogs, getting to the final four as a #15 seed.

The player in white may have gone in the water but it was the player in blue who took the real dive. Where's the Sword of Allah when sinners really need punishment?

Bubbie Buzzachero

That's a perfect name for a 1930-1950 baseball player. He'd get my vote (if I wasn't swamped with apathy).

Chelsea set to sell Ricardo Carvalho to Real Madrid

In itself not a big deal, Carvalho is clearly very close to Mourinho. But Chelsea's defense is not in good shape, as was clear from Sunday's loss to ManU, and so I wonder who will step up as the Blues try to repeat in the league or win their first CL trophy.

The Yanks in general get the benefit of the doubt. I'd love to see that analysis applied to all teams to see how much of it per-player and how much per-team.
