Matt Garza gets Rays first no-hitter: He is the first pitcher to no-hit the Tigers since 1990. Garza faced only 27 batters, with a walk in the 2nd the only blemish. He also threw 6 Ks on 120 pitches...
Now down to just a couple of clubs that haven't had one.

I've missed watching both Morris's and Verlander's no-nos, but now I've watched 2 against the Tigers...FML...

Quite a catch by Crawford whenever that was in the game. And so the year of the pitcher continues.
Things also noted: Scherzer had a no-no for the Tigers for a while too.

So there are now only two teams that have never thrown a no-hitter/perfect game (Mets & Padres). While I know that both are in the NL and only get to face the Rays during interleague play, but come on now, the Rays don't get to play the Rays and they have a no hitter. The Mets and Padres better get on the ball soon or Bud could decide to contract them.

There are very strong metaphysical reasons why the Mets and Padres don't have no-hitters.
In the case of the Mets, it's because of what they did to the Cubs ('69).
In the case of the Padres, it's because of ... what they did to the Cubs ('84).

Is this The Year of The Pitcher? Has there every been a year with more Perfect and No Hitter games?

There's never been two perfect games in a year before. Most no-hitters in one year is 8, 7 in the modern era (1991).

Lee Richmond and John Montgomery Ward pitched perfect games 5 days apart in 1880.

I believe Garza is the first pitcher to no-hit the Toledo Mud Hens + Cabrera/Damon.
Though in all honesty Garza pitched great and was backed up by some solid play in the field. Joyce kills the Tigers (that sounds familiar) and it must be nice for the Rays to not be on the receiving end of a no-hitter for once.
