Fans Jockey for A-Rod's Ball: As New York Yankees shortstop Alex Rodriguez closes in on 600 home runs -- he hit 598 on Sunday -- the price of tickets at Yankee Stadium has escalated in the areas where Rodriguez most often homers. "The best places to try to catch No. 600 are in the left-field stands, in Sections 136 and 135," reports the New York Times. Resale value of the ball, according to one auctioneer: $100,000 to $150,000.
Why does anyone want to hold A-Rods balls?

I question the authenticity of that story .... It's no record, A Rod is cheating roid abuser so whatever he achieves will be worth about as much as Barry Bonds on the free agent market, and when is the last time the guy played short?

I'm going to start a list of events that become important only because they involve a round number.
And then when that list gets to 100, I will sell it on eBay.

Given the PED involvement, I wouldn't think a serious collector would pay anywhere near $100k for that ball.
I know that I could not possibly care less about A-Rod reaching that milestone.

A-Rod started this. He's like "Hey there's only six people to ever do this. It's more rare than 3,000 hits and 300 wins. There are more perfect games. Will someone please pay attention to me?"

Hell, Thome's darn near right up there with Rodriguez. Hope he's getting some notice.
Rodriguez could hit #600 at Tampa Bay, with the ball getting hung up in the stadium roof structure. The idea of a mad fan dash on the catwalks to get at the ball is a freaky prospect. A bit of Gotham City at the Trop.

His 600th ball? No wonder there have been testosterone issues.

As opposed to Hollywood starlots, who jockey to cradle both of them.

Why? It's not like it's a record.
