Useless MLB info:

  • Since hitting a grand slam on the very pitch he saw as a major league baseball player, Daniel Nava has not hit another home run in the next 88 plate appearances.
  • Stephen Strasburg has now started 7 consecutive games to begin his career where he's struck out at least one batter per inning pitched (as a starting pitcher). He's one away from tying the record of 8 (to start a career) held by Herb Score.
  • Backup Seattle catch Eliezer Alfonzo is currently leading the majors in most plate appearances by a non-pitcher without a base-on-balls (or intentional walk, or hit-by-pitch), with 41. However, Chicago utility infielder Dayan Viciedo is quickly accumulating plate appearances (40), and will probably pass Alfonzo within the next week. They both have a long way to go to catch the all-time record for a single season (148 PA), held by Craig Robinson.

Wondering if ESPN will get an FCC fine for swearing. Just heard Big Papi swear in spanish loud and clear and I sure they could have gotten away with it, but then Berman and Morgan repeated it.

Oh, he topped that:

UNBELIEVABLE. Stern fined me $100K for speaking the TRUTH. I AM OUTRAGED. This is like fining Anne Frank for writing her diary.

Man that second one's funny, LBL. Deeply, horribly irredeemably wrong, but still funny. I will go to hell for laughing at that.

I stand corrected.

"At the end of the day, there's one person I could not turn away from. Kobe Bryant asked me to stay but supported whatever decision I made," Fisher said. "He and I have played together for 11 seasons, came into the league together as kids, and has been loyal to me even when others had doubts. We have won five championships together."

Derek Fisher signs three year deal with Lakers.

I hope Kobe waited until the start of free agency to ask Fisher to stay or else we are talking about collusion. Right?

Presumably, Bryant talked to Fisher while both were under contract with the Lakers and then when he was a free agent. It's not collusion for a team to negotiate with its own player, so I don't see how it could be collusion for teammates to talk.

I think that was a joke.

Oh. I'm sorry. Never mind.

It obviously wasn't a very good joke.
