Midnight Baseball in Alaska: The Alaska Goldpanners scored two runs in the 15th inning to defeat the U.S. Military Heroes of the Diamond 4-3 in Fairbanks, Alaska's 105th annual Midnight Sun game. The game began at 10 p.m. and was played in sunshine, drawing several thousand fans.

Love the banner ads on the article page. The phone numbers are listed with not an area code to be found. No need for it. The whole state is still one big bad area code. Hard for an oversegmented east coaster like me to comprehend.

Several years ago I got my wife to agree that at some point in our retirement (which with my being 32 and her being 29 is still a ways off) that we would go to Alaska for the Midnight baseball games. I keep wishing that the Powerball gods would make it happen sooner rather than later.
