The 23rd London Marathon: is on Sunday. Over 45000 people will run a gruelling 26 mile race with millions being raised for charitable causes. Maximum respect to the ordinary people that take part, and good luck to Paula Radcliffe.

The London Marathon is a marvellous event and I always make the effort to wake up and watch it in bed. Hopefully that's about as close as I'll ever get to being involved. I can't find it mentioned on the official site but respect in particular is due to ex-boxer Michael Watson who plans to walk the course in support of the Brain and Spine Foundation.

My 56 year old father is running his third Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon the weekend after Easter. He says that the support that the citizens of Oklahoma City have been extremely supportive, with people lining every mile cheering on the runners (and not just the ones in front either). This is only the third year of this marathon, but I hope it sticks around.
