Former Golden State Warriors Owner Dies: Franklin Mieuli, the owner of the Golden State Warriors for 24 years, has died at age 89. After buying a partial share of the team in 1962, he became the majority owner shortly thereafter. His tenure included the Rick Barry-led 1975 team that won the NBA title while the team played in Oakland. On the night the Warriors won the title, Mieuli missed some of the locker room celebration. "I left and got in this queue that I thought was on the way to the locker room," he said. "Turned out it was on the way to the men's room. When I finally got to the locker room, everybody was still celebrating, but I'd missed the TV cameras and most of the Champagne pouring."
