Jay-Z Sues Big Papi: Jay-Z has built an empire centered around his name. His influence reaches everything from music to fashion and everything in between. One of his best known business ventures is his chain of 40/40 club sports bar lounges. Well, David Ortiz thinks that it’s such a great idea that he’s launched his own club – Forty/Forty.
I don't think Papi ever thought he was a member of the 40/40 club. Unless the denominator is something different.

What 40/40 club in baseball would Ortiz be a member of? His career stolen base total is 10. (In fact, one of the funnier moments of the opening series at Target Field was watching Ortiz try to steal a base against Joe Mauer.)
Maybe he should open a 40/1 club. More accurate and less copyright issues.

Yeah, I have no idea what I was thinking. Ortiz naming his club Forty/Forty makes less sense. Actually, I must have thinking about that Bernie Mac movie.

Maybe it's his percentage of strike outs...No wait, that's at 50%.
So Red Sox fans, hows that run prevention thing working for you?

Pretty damn well, especially if Scutaro can find a glove that works (and Cameron and Ellsbury get back in the lineup). As a testament to that, in spite of them being under .500 right now, I'm (here comes the jinx) not the least bit worried about them and enjoying the games. Having watched a fair number on non-Sox games so far this year (loving MLB Network's day games), I feel like the difference is obvious. I've seen a couple of games lost by bad fielding (O's vs. Tampa a couple of days ago) on plays the Sox' current defenders would make look routine.
Off-topic, your last 3 comments have been snark about New Jersey and the Red Sox. Sorry you have to suffer living in RSN, but save the snark for Yahoo or ESPN, huh?

Since the nightclub in question is located in the Dominican Republic, it would seem that Jay-Z won't have a case in a US court. Ortiz resides in the DR, and what happens there is not a matter for US law. As far as Ortiz's web site being www.fortyforty.net, there's nothing to prevent anyone from registering a web site name (within the usual bounds of decency) as long as it doesn't belong to someone else.

I wouldn't worry about the Red Sox. That's going to be a good team. Especially with that pitching staff.
Ortiz's mistake is that he's fucking with Jay-Z. Man, Jay-Z hasn't lost at anything in his life. Why wouldn't you call it "Big Papi's" anyway.

Damnit. Should have kept my mouth shut. Of course, that's usually true.

I can't see Ortiz's logic. "Hey, that 40/40 club is awesome. I'm a member of 40/40 club in baseball. I should name my club that." Sorry, Papi, you lose.
