Former Mets, Yankees star Dwight Gooden arrested for DWI after rush hour accident: A drugged-up Doc Gooden, whose substance abuse crippled his shot at baseball immortality, was arrested after a morning rush hour accident with his son in the car, police said Wednesday.

Worst part of it is putting a 5-year-old in danger. But then, those with a substance abuse problem rarely think in those terms. Too bad.

From the article:

Gooden, an incandescent talent whose Hall of Fame hopes disappeared in a haze of booze and drugs, was arrested at the scene and his car was towed away.

Gooden, 45, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, endangering the welfare of a child, leaving the scene, reckless driving and DWI with a child passenger.
