American High School Dropout Quits Israeli Pro Team: Jeremy Tyler, the 18-year-old 6-foot-11 center who became the first American high school player to skip his senior year and play overseas, has left his Maccabi Haifa team in Israel and flown home. Tyler played in only 10 games, averaging 2.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 7.6 minutes. "I'm disappointed and hurt," said his agent Makhtar Ndiaye.

Obviously this is a question of maturity, for both Jeremy and his parents. I question the wisdom of the parents allowing their 18 year old to leave school and play abroad. Are they thinking of his best interests or theirs? The parents of all people should know if their child is capable of handling this on his own.
I'm sure that in part this is nothing more than being homesick. Compare this to a lot of 18 year olds going away to college. What is the percentage of freshmen that fail in their first year because they just are not ready or mature enough?
The first thing I would do after getting home would be to fire an agent who can only talk about how disappointed and hurt he is rather than being concerned about his client.
