I think the groundsman who drew this centre circle may have had a decent time the night before.

I used to run a sports field paint crew, and it would be quite hard to paint a center circle that is that misshapen yet has such a smooth, regular line. At least the way we do it. Creating an improper but not untidy shape like that is actually quite a feat.

Ah, the joys of satellite imagery. The process of stitching together all of the satellite images does create some distortion in some instances.

Piece of string 10 yards long, a stake in the centre spot and you're done.

The circle's easy compared to the instructions for laying out a baseball diamond. See paragraph 1.04 of the link.

opel: The lines on the grass look straight though.

I wonder if it was windy as hell that day and the line was shorter as they were adjacent to the wind and it created a bow. If not, what Bismarck said.

So, thinking back to my childhood, I recall our phys ed teacher trotting around the fields with the chalk machine while somehow his eyes were always focused on the cheerleaders practice. Good thing there wasn't google earth then. Who knows what he had marked on those fields. My guess is that the sideline looked a little like this:

Is anyone else watching the William & Mary-UNC game in the NITs right now? W&M's 3-point shooting is absolutely ridiculous.
