Thunder in the Dome as Saints Advance to N.F.C. Title Game : To motivate his Saints against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday, New Orleans Coach Sean Payton gave them baseball bats marked with the words “bring the wood.” Running back Reggie Bush did the coach one better when the Saints took the field before the roaring throng at the Superdome. Bush ran at the front of the pack and brandished his bat like some sort of Olympic torch. “He didn’t know I was going to bring it out,” Bush said. “That was on my own.” Bush followed through. He scored two dramatic touchdowns and gained 217 yards through rushes, pass receptions and punt returns as the Saints crushed the Cardinals, 45-14.

Bush looked like a star. The biggest surprise was that the Saints defense was able to stop the Cardinals.

Who dat?

Based on my scientific method based on the ever so accurate thread comment count metric, the Saints are approximately half as popular as the Colts, one sixth as popular as the Jets and one twentieth as popular as the Vikings. So extreme underdogs (at least as far as popularity is concerned) heading into the Conference Finals weekend. Either that or (a) people just don't like to see the sight of the Hy-Vee stockboy getting blowed up while some fat dude with a front row seat gets some air and have thus been avoiding this thread, or (b) the Saints should have tacked on some extra points in the fourth quarter so we could debate their classiness/sportsmanship or lack thereof.
