Anaheim Fans Brawl Over Hockey Stick: When Anaheim Ducks captain Scott Niedermayer gave his hockey stick to a girl in the crowd Thursday night after being named a star of the game, a brawl broke out in the stands because a man grabbed it for himself. "It was for the little girl," Niedermayer told the Los Angeles Times.
Well it's pretty sad, but I can't say I would have done the same thing if some player tried to give my child a souvenir they would covet for their lifetime and some overgrown asshole somehow decided he was entitled to it.

I can't tell whose side the woman with the ponytail is on - is she trying to defend the moron or is she trying to take the stick away from him?

It looks to me like she's trying to defend the guy to her left (in the gray sweatshirt).
I might sound like a fuddy-duddy for saying this, but hockey's glorification of fighting has always horrified me, and so I find it deliciously ironic to see fans dropping the gloves to fight over a souvenir.

yea, I was wondering whose side the girl is on as well. Really she's what makes it a "brawl" versus a "fight"...because otherwise it's really Dad vs Asswhipe until she gets involved. If she's wife/gf of asswhipe, then she may actually be less classy than her significant other, which is saying alot.

There have been times when I think if we left children to handle matters by themselves, everything would be OK -- sandlot baseball vs. Little League; pickup football vs. Pop Warner. It's when the adults get involved that everything goes wrong.
