On fourth-and-1 at the Seahawks' 2, Jags quarterback David Garrard did something I don't recall seeing before. As all of his receivers were covered and he was being approached by several tacklers for a sack, he intentionally threw the ball away out the back of the end zone. He didn't try to force it in anywhere and risk an interception, just for a chance to score.

Was he starting the Seahawks defense that week in fantasy football?

It was a bad omen in an eventual 41-0 loss.

He's obviously not starting on his own fantasy team, though he is on mine.

How are the Titans this bad?

MLS explores playing indoors to shift schedule - As part of the bid to host a World Cup commissioner Don Garber said they would look at getting roofed stadiums to permit an August - May schedule. Let's say I'm skeptical.

From what I saw when Tennessee came to Jacksonville, their main problems are the world's softest pass defense and a quarterback whose deal with the devil must have been a one-year thing.

The fall of the Titans reminds me of what happened to the Jags after 1999. They reached the AFC Championship game as a 14-2 team, lost to the Titans, and then lost six of the next eight games they played and were never the same again. Some great teams have an expiration date.

A lot of things went really, really right for them last year. Momentum is a powerful thing, especially to a quarterback who was getting a last lease on his career out of it.

I went to the LSU-Florida game in Baton Rouge on Saturday (great tailgate and in-stadium atmosphere; pretty boring game and bad result for the home team). Heard a pretty funny joke from the guy whose tickets are behind my father's, in reference to the LSU-Mississippi State game from a few weeks ago (where MSU had three chances from inside the LSU 1 yard-line towards the end of the game and couldn't get it in):

Q. What's the difference between a hooker and Mississippi State?
A. A hooker don't choke on 4 inches.

They really miss Albert Haynesworth.

I think they miss Jim Schwartz way more than Haynesworth.

The Lions gave the Steelers a run for their money, but three straight sacks at the end of the game was straight up ugly.
