Washington Defeats No. 3 USC on Last-Second Field Goal: Washington Huskies placekicker Erik Folk broke a 13-13 tie with seven seconds left in the game to defeat the No. 3 USC Trojans at Husky Stadium, a bitter loss for USC coach Pete Carroll against his former coordinator, first-year Washington coach Steve Sarkisian.

Folk, Washington's kicker, went to high school down the street from me.

What a terrible afternoon!

Terrible is so much a matter of perspective: Cal wins (though they didn't dominate), USC loses, Arsenal wins, my kid's youth soccer team wins - pretty outstanding day all around, I'd say!

This means the Wolverines can move one spot higher in the top 25, and try to erase last season...that's never terrible...

This isn't all that shocking. I heard James Carville on Kornheiser's radio show predict this more than a week ago. Former OC coordinator playing his former team - it happens.
