I think that setting the line at 14.5 for the TiCats-Als match-up is a good line. Most people who have picked this week seem to agree. I don't think we're watching this game to see if Montreal will win, but whether they'll cover or not. Just because the Tabbies seem to have found their claws again a little bit, I'll say that they're sharp enough at this point to keep this closer than 15. Alouettes by 12.
The fines for excessive endzone celebrations are having some cry that we're becoming the "No Fun League". How is this relevant? Arland Bruce has apparently been told to stay home for the game this week. He is a money receiver, no doubt about it. But his overall conduct is apparently just too oppositional to the team's code. Not unlike the Stamps releasing JoJuan Armour earlier, I think that some teams (and good coaches) do what is necessary to "right the ship" and eliminate any toxic players. Talented or not, we've all seen the plague of a prima donna in pro football before. This should come as no real surprise. Thing is, I'm not sure whether or not this is sufficient to rally the Argo troops or not. At the outset, I had the Bombers pegged (get it?) for bottom of the eastern barrel. And while they certainly are due for a better performance overall, I don't think this week will be the one. I'll pick the Argos by 10 with Joseph usin' his feet as much his arm this week ... and no grandstanding when he does reach the endzone.
Hmmm ... the Lions sure looked dangerous last week against the relatively impotent Eskimos. But the Stamps can be equally as dangerous. The fact that this game is being played under the dome could be a factor. Wally wants those record-setting wins this season, so they will be ready to play. Still, this one is too close to call for me yet ... so why not predict the first OT game of the season? Because the kicker for the Lions is a pip-squeak! I'm sure there are smaller guys out there, but he looks like a runt. Calgary takes this one ... by 6 (points McCallum wouldn't have left off the board).
If anyone reads any of the media prognosticators' sites (or watch the TSN panel), you'll know that it's like some kinda crime to pick against the Riders. Anyone who knows me knows that it IS a SIN to pick against the Eskimos. As such, I'm gonna go with my moral self and be true to me rather than true to the madness that is Ridermania. Honestly though, I do feel that the Double E is gonna start to find its mojo ... and that's how the west could be won (well, maybe not won outright, but at least make the playoffs after a bit of a drought). Edmonton by 11.

Anyone see that coming? Buck Pierce gets knocked out early, but Jarious Jackson takes the reins and puts together a strong 40-point game. Montreal makes a statement in Saskatchewan, establishing themselves as the team to beat. Kevin Glenn propels Hamilton to a comeback win over Winnipeg. And Toronto loses one so ugly, it's not even worth posting the link to the highlights. (Okay, fine.)
Tight scoring week this week as tough calls turn into blowouts. apoch nets four to move into a tie for first, while tommytrump and j5v navigate the coin tosses and grab five points each. And The_Black_Hand makes a triumphant return (we kept a spot in the spreadsheet warm for ya!) with an healthy three points.
This week brings a return to divisional play, which may or may not be more predictable depending on how many points each team scores, especially when compared to the number of points their opponents score.
WEEK 4
Hamilton @ Montreal (Thursday, July 23) It's all well and good for Hamilton to have beaten Winnipeg at Ivor Wynne, but a red-hot Montreal at home is a very different matter.
Toronto @ Winnipeg (Friday, July 24) Toronto must feel pretty good going up against a team that just lost against the only team they've beaten. But will that be overshadowed by the bad feelings left over from things like losing by 35 points?
Calgary @ B.C. (Friday, July 24) Toughest call of the week. Both teams romped last week after starting their seasons 0-2. Calgary does have a history of inconsistency, so let's give B.C. the home edge.
Edmonton @ Saskatchewan (Saturday, July 25) Edmonton could be a sexy pick against a hurt 'Riders team, but it's also very difficult to imagine Saskatchewan losing two consecutive weeks at home.
